I know its been a While.....

Photos Courtesy of EYA 2010 National Juried Competition
I've just been so gosh darn busy... I just started up with summer quarter yesterday after a very short rather full three week break. I had first my own graduation then my younger brother graduation from high school that I had to attend down in florida. The following week I had a good friend of mine from LA come stay which was amazing to see her!!! A day after she left Savannah I had to make an Emergency trip up to Michigan to see my grandmother and I decided to make the best of it and drive back down to Savannah with a good friend from Michigan that also attends SCAD. We had a great time during the drive and stopped over in Nashville for the evening. I had never been, and I think for just one night it ranks quite high on my list of places I NEED to go back to.
During this hectic time I found out that I had taken Second place in the first Juried competition I had entered out of College for my photograph Rapture from my Female Ghost series. (what a confidence boost!!!!) So now Its back to the grind and getting work done. For my last painting class a SCAD I decided to take Abstract painting, I like abstract photography but I have never attempted Abstract painting, I guess because I don't understand it as well, so we shall see how this goes... ANyways now that I'm back to a regimen I will be posting a lot more.... later

What a weekend

My My, both the show and the sale were great successes.... I sold my first piece in a gallery!!! WHOHOO.... so it really was a great night. I had a lot of good feed back from friends saying they didn't know I did all of the work I had shown. I got compared to Alice Neal which was a great complement. Overall a good night, now its on to the next thing. My next big project involves a chandelier that I am decorating with caste pine cones, caste Horseshoe crab back and I think maybe a jellyfish or two. We have a Raku firing on Friday which I made five jellies for so hopefully that will work out well too. tis' all for tonight tata...

Long day but worth it....

Heres' a few shots of the layout so far...
So today I help hang the Bare show that Is taking place tomorrow at the Co-Lab... STarted hanging around 2:30 and It went on and on but I ended up turning out quite well. A few people had bailed out of the show so mid day the room was starting to look a little bare itself. So i offered to bring in some of my paintings and they ended up putting all of them up. I was really excited about it, you would imagine. I just hope we have a good turn out tomorrow. I pooped though and whats worse is I have to get up early for the ceramic sale tomorrow morning. It'll be fun though once it gets going, I just loath waking up at 8 am.....

My latest inspirations...

Lately I have been really into giant squid, I know it sounds like a strange thing to be in to, but i love sea creatures. I've been rally books on them and had attempted a giant squid painting before( didn't quite work out) and now I am going for another go round. I mean there is so little known about these creatures and I guess thats why I find them so fascinating. Its only bee relatively recent that one have even been caught live. I guess most people know me for painting jellyfish, and dont get me wrong I love my jellyfish, But I love all sea creatures.
on another note getting really close to the BARE show at the CO-Lab. Hanging on thursday and Reception on Saturday. I super excited!!

In just about a week I going to be in another group show titled Bare: a nude show. I'm really excited about this show because its right up my ally. We hang next week and the show is on Saturday. My First Post

Well I have never had a blog before so here we go right. I am curretly living in Savannah Georgia, while I attend Savannah Collage of Art and Design. I'm almost done, graduation is right around the corner and I'm really excited to live and work as an artist. My mediums range from photography to painting (mostly mixed media), and lastly ceramics( which at this time I want to go to grad school for). Well thats it for now....
